about

In the last month of 2020 Shamans of Sound released their new single District Vibes featuring vocals by SleepWalker. The tune was recorded and produced with a lush, full-on 'live in studio' sound. So they decided to send the track stems to Rob Paine of Solomonic Sound in Philadelphia and asked him to rework and reimagine the track however he wanted. Not only did longtime selector Rob Paine come back with one of the deepest dub remixes around, but he even threw in an alternate version that was a by-product of his sonic alchemy.

To those unfamiliar with Rob Paine, he has nearly 30 years of experience as a top rate DJ, playing to festivals and clubs around the world for decades now. He established his own “Dub House” genre in the early 2000's, and has a label, Worship Recordings, dedicated to house music. Rob Paine also tours prominently as a reggae/dancehall/dub DJ under his Solomonic Sound System moniker. Needless to say he is a prolific talent bringing a wide range of sounds to dancefloors worldwide, always with positive uplifting vibrations.

Rob Paine's Solomonic Steppers Dub Remix of District Vibes is bass heavy, spooky and dubbed out to the max. Gone are the full vocal arrangements, instead dubby echoes and refrains from SleepWalker are heard throughout. The relentless hard-stepping beat runs right through from start to finish, giving even the most jaded rudeboys a reason to dance. Ethereal keys, digital stabs and dubby bleeps drop throughout, adding trippy layers to the track. A modern dub classic….

Rob Paine's Stripped Down Dub takes the gloves off and just goes right for the jugular. This is dark and deadly dub music, the vocals are gone entirely and the bass reverberates throughout. Rob Paine is really flexing his dub style production skills here, this one's for the serious heads. The familiar begins to feels strange as the pulsing beat keeps driving you deeper and deeper. This is the dub music your grandma warned you about!
